Regardless, a few voices define Pop music as a whole, rising above the ever-changing ebb and flow, one of which is The King of Pop, Michael Jackson! Michael Jackson began singing in the wildly popular group The Jackson 5 at a young age before branching off and making a name for himself. With more hits than I can count on two hands, Michael Jackson is a legend, which is precisely the reason that his life was adapted for the stage with the Broadway show MJ The Musical!
This jukebox musical explores Michael Jackson’s life through the songs that made him a pop sensation. Originally scheduled to premiere in mid-2020, the show was delayed until December 2021, when it debuted at the Neil Simon Theatre! Having won four Tony Awards and becoming one of the highest-grossing musicals of all time, it makes perfect sense that MJ The Musical would tour North America!
Just ahead of its premiere here in Detroit at The Fisher Theatre as a part of the Broadway in Detroit series of shows, Brian Kitson sat down with one of the show’s stars, Devin Bowles, who plays Joe Jackson and Rob in MJ The Musical!
